A long-established, family-run manufacturer of bespoke curtains, drapery and soft furnishings for luxury hotels and high-end residential developments worldwide is looking for an Estimator / Project Manager at its Dewsbury, West Yorkshire office. This is a genuinely dual role: preparing accurate, technical cost estimates for curtain and soft furnishing packages, and managing those projects from enquiry through to installation and handover.
This is a specialist position for someone from within the curtains, soft furnishings or contract interiors world: you understand fabrics, linings, tracks, poles and workrooms, and you know what it takes to deliver a soft furnishings package into a five-star hotel. You might currently be estimating in a curtain workroom, running projects for a contract furnishings house, or managing soft furnishing packages on hospitality fit-outs.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing detailed, accurate cost estimates for curtain and soft furnishing packages: fabrics, linings, tracks, poles, fixings, labour and installation
- Interpreting drawings, specifications and design briefs into comprehensive quotations, with quantity take-offs from window schedules, plans and site data
- Working with fabric and hardware suppliers to hold current pricing and accurate pricing structures
- Managing projects from initial enquiry through manufacture to installation and final handover, on deadline
- Coordinating workrooms, suppliers, surveyors and installation teams, feeding accurate site measurements into estimates and project plans
- Acting as main client contact on commercial and hospitality projects, with clear communication throughout
- Monitoring budgets, margins and project performance, and keeping all documentation and costings accurate
What you'll need
- Experience within curtains, soft furnishings, drapery or contract interiors is essential for this role: you must understand how bespoke soft furnishings are specified, made and installed
- Proven estimating and/or project management experience on commercial, hotel or high-end residential projects
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications and window schedules
- Meticulous attention to detail in costings, measurements and data
- Strong organisation across multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment
- Commercial awareness with a focus on margin and profitability
- Confidence with Excel and new digital tools; full UK driving licence
What's on offer
- £30,000 to £40,000 depending on experience
- Office-based role at the heart of a family business with over a century of combined soft furnishings expertise
- Prestigious luxury hotel and residential projects in the UK and globally
- New systems being introduced, with the chance to shape how estimating is done
