Furniture Technician — Central London (W1)

We are recruiting on behalf of a long-established, nationwide furniture restoration business operating across both the domestic and commercial furniture restoration sectors. This is a field-based Furniture Technician role covering Central London (W1), where you will be the face of the business in customers' homes, carrying out high-quality upholstery repairs, furniture restoration and clear inspection and liability reporting, while delivering excellent customer service.

Area covered: Mayfair, Soho, Marylebone, Kensington, Chelsea and Paddington. Work is organised by postcode area, one area per day, so you are working close to home around Central London (W1D 3QF) rather than driving across the country.

This role is ideal for an experienced Upholsterer, Furniture Repair Technician, Furniture Technician, Service Technician, Trimmer or Furniture Restorer, or anyone who has carried out in-home repairs and inspections on sofas, chairs, beds, mattresses or cabinetry. It is a genuine move into a stable, well-supported position with proper training, structure and progression.

Salary and benefits

• £30,368 to £34,528 per annum, based on a 40-hour week and rising with productivity
• Double time paid for all weekend work
• Self-employed option also available at a £45,000 package

The role

• Attend pre-booked appointments across Mayfair, Soho, Marylebone, Kensington, Chelsea and Paddington
• Upholstery repairs and furniture restoration to sofas, chairs, beds, cabinets and mattresses
• Inspection and liability reporting using a custom-built app
• Professional customer communication from arrival to completion
• High standards in both repair quality and report quality, keeping the furniture in the home, the customer happy and the client fully informed

Training and support

• Full training at the West Midlands training centre, with hotel and travel covered, before you work independently
• Experienced training managers close any skill gaps
• Ongoing access to head-office based Technician Managers for technical support

Requirements

• Strong experience in upholstery and/or furniture repair (upholstery experience preferred)
• Full UK driving licence (required)
• Professional, customer-facing manner: calm, tidy, reliable and confident communicating in a home environment
• High standards of workmanship and written reporting
• Based in or within easy reach of Central London
