An established bespoke kitchen and furniture maker in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire (LE65) is looking for a hands-on Senior Bench Joiner who can also supervise production on the workshop floor. Everything the business makes is bespoke, from five-piece doors and frames to complete kitchens and freestanding furniture, and every piece is made to individual sizes.
This is not a desk-based management job. You will be on the bench making bespoke kitchen furniture yourself while leading a small team, planning the workflow and solving the problems that only come up when every job is a one-off.
What you'll be doing
- Making bespoke kitchen furniture, five-piece doors, frames, carcasses and freestanding pieces to drawings and cutting lists
- Leading and supervising the workshop team day to day, allocating work and checking quality
- Problem-solving around bespoke sizes, materials and finishes to keep production moving
- Operating wood machinery safely and maintaining a tidy, safe workshop
- Working with the design and management team on schedules, materials and delivery dates
What we're looking for
- Time-served bench joiner or cabinet maker with proven experience making bespoke kitchens or similar fitted furniture, this is essential
- Experience of five-piece door and frame construction and bespoke carcass work
- Experience leading or supervising others in a workshop environment
- Confident reading drawings and working to tight tolerances
- Safe operation of wood machinery
- Based within a comfortable commute of Ashby-de-la-Zouch
What's on offer
- £38,000 to £45,000 per year depending on experience (to be confirmed at interview)
- Permanent, full-time position, Monday to Friday
