Do you know curtains, drapery and soft furnishings inside out, from the first site survey to the final fit? This is a senior, hands-on Installation Manager / Site Operations Manager role, leading the fitting teams and owning the survey and measuring process on luxury hotel projects across London.
Also known in the industry as: Curtain Installation Manager, Soft Furnishings Installation Manager, Fitting Manager, Fitting Team Manager, Site Manager, Site Surveyor, Curtain Project Manager, Drapery Site Manager, Contract Furnishings Site Manager or Window Treatments Installation Manager.
Our client is a family-run business with over a century of combined expertise, manufacturing and installing bespoke curtains, drapery and soft furnishings for luxury and contemporary hotels and high-end multi-residential properties around the world, with current projects in some of London's landmark hotels.
Based out of the North West London office (NW10), which houses the sewing room, fabric store and a team of around eleven, you will be the technical authority on measuring and installation, leading three directly employed fitters plus regular subcontractors and travelling to sites across London. You will guide the fitters on site and the sewing room on how each item needs to be made, so that what is manufactured fits first time. It is a role for someone whose technical knowledge of curtains and soft furnishings has been earned through genuine site experience.
Leading the fitting team
- Overseeing and managing all fitters, ensuring installation work is scheduled, resourced and completed to a high standard
- Allocating tasks across the fitting team and managing day-to-day workload and priorities
- Providing clear leadership and direction, holding fitters accountable for quality and timekeeping
- Supporting the training and development of fitters, ensuring consistent installation standards across the team
Site surveys and measuring
- Leading on site surveys and measuring for curtains, drapery and soft furnishings at hotel sites, with accuracy and attention to detail
- Taking responsibility for all surveys, either carrying them out personally or overseeing others conducting them
- Interpreting architectural drawings and site conditions to determine correct measurements and specifications
- Identifying and resolving on-site issues that could affect fit, installation or timelines
- Maintaining accurate records of surveys, measurements and site visits
The link between site and sewing room
- Acting as the technical point of contact between site and the sewing room, translating survey data into clear manufacturing instructions for curtains and soft furnishings
- Guiding the sewing room on construction and technical requirements based on site-specific findings
- Coordinating installation schedules with hotel clients, ensuring minimal disruption to their operations
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in curtains, drapery, blinds or soft furnishings, with hands-on site survey and measuring experience essential
- Experience managing or leading a team of curtain fitters or soft furnishings installers
- Strong technical knowledge of curtain making, drapery, tracks, fitting and installation requirements
- Experience on hospitality, hotel or high-end residential projects is a strong advantage
- A confident, hands-on leadership style, with the ability to get the best out of a fitting team
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly with measurements and technical specifications
- Strong communication skills, able to translate technical site detail clearly for the sewing room and wider team
- Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple sites and priorities at once
- Comfortable working closely with high-end hotel clients and representing the business professionally on site
- Strong Excel and general technology skills would be an advantage
- Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel to sites as required
The package
- £55,000+ depending on experience
- Permanent, full-time position based out of the North West London office (NW10)
- Commutable from Acton, Ealing, Wembley, Harlesden, Hammersmith and Harrow
